Day 56 (19.2 miles)

Inverarnan to Bridge of Orchy
Having camped I woke early, mainly because it was another freezing cold night under canvas. After packing up I thought it worthwhile waiting until 7:30 so that I could enjoy a Full Scottish breakfast. I eventually started walking at about 8:15.
The route today would be mainly on old military roads, with sections taking me through a conifer plantation and rough sheep pasture. I’d also pass the halfway point of the WHW @ Crianlarich.
The weather was dry with warm sunny intervals, so after about half a mile I took off the waterproof I’d needed to keep warm whilst I was on the campsite.
All day the route stays relatively close to the busy A82 & the main Glasgow to Fort William railway line. I lunched at the Tyndrum Inn in Tyndrum, a Bacon & Brie Panini & pint of Deuchars.
After lunch the mountain scenery really starts to kick in. With the railway still in close attendance I followed the valley floor passed a couple of stunning Munros; Beinn Odhar & Beinn Dorain.
Dinner at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel was Burger & Chips, no dessert. (Maybe a couple of Whiskies)
Tonight I’ll be staying on the railway platform @ the WHW Sleeper. But that’s another story…
Some stats:
Mileage count: 991.5
Pint count: 208
economy: 38.1mpg
Malt Whisky count: 15
