Miles to go: 212.7
Canada: 2655.2
Today was a really tough one. It had rained all night. Despite being in a tent most things were damp at best and I knew it was gonna rain most of the day today.
There were 2 big climbs on my route but most of the rest of the day was hiking through cold, dark forest. They say the section between Snoqualmie & Steven’s Pass is one of the most beautiful on the PCT, if only I could see the views I might be able to agree.
“There’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing”. This statement, often quoted to hikers, is wrong. In light rain walking up a steep hill with a rain jacket on you get just as wet from sweat as you do from the rain.
I knew I had to hike at least 25miles today to leave tomorrow’s hike into Steven’s Pass doable as I’ll need to dry everything (tent, sleeping bag, clothes, backpack) before getting back on trail. I was dreading pitching my wet tent in the rain, luckily it stopped raining whilst I pitched it and tried to dry the floor with my tiny towel. I got inside and blow up my airbed and got into my damp sleeping bag just before the heavens opened. Tonight I decided to keep all the doors closed. I thought condensation was the least of my worries tonight.

Rain, rain, go away
Come again some other day
We want to go outside and play
Come again some other day

No one ever said it would be this wet”
