Day 152 – Zero – Travel to Snoqualmie

Today was the final stretch of the road trip to Snoqualmie, tomorrow I’ll be back on trail with only 13 days hiking to go!
I’m a little nervous as there are still 3 sections of trail closed for forest fires and the re-route alternatives are pretty brutal elevation loss/gains in most cases adding lots of additional miles. The weather forecast isn’t going to be kind to me either with lots of rain forecast over the next week. So this final section, rather than being a victory lap, will perhaps be the biggest test yet.
I’ll be adding more warm layers to my kit. First I’ll be ditching the shorts and wearing long trousers for the rest of the way. I’m adding another long sleeved top & buff, 2 more pairs of gloves and an extra pair of socks. Although there might also be some fresh snow I’m not taking an ice axe or micro spikes as they only really work in consolidated snow.
We set off from Chemult, OR and briefly stopped for lunch; fish & chips, in Goldendale, WA before arriving at an overnight stop 50miles from Snoqualmie. Dinner; BLT & fries + Oreo milkshake.
