I’d left myself just over 10miles to Chester to complete all the PCT trail in California. However, there was one significant highlight – the midpoint of the PCT

I got up and out by 7am, but it was cold, very cold. I knew I had a short climb towards ‘Butt Mountain’ but that didn’t warm me up very much. I resorted to alternating my hands in my pockets to give them some respite. The trail went due east for sometime so I was walking directly into the rising sun.

As I neared the midpoint marker the trail swung north. When I arrived I was glad it wasn’t my midpoint because I don’t think I could manage another 2,400miles.

I just had 8miles of burn zone left to Highway 36 and access to Chester, my ‘flip’ destination. When I arrived Andrea (one of my desert trail family) was already there. She knew I was short of time and offered to drive me to Snoqualmie. Thanks so much.

We went into Chester to do laundry & resupply first. I bought 13 days of food, 3 for my pack and 5 days each for 2 mail packages I’ll send to myself. I’ll send them to Post Offices in towns along the trail that don’t have good resupply options.

We then set off on the road trip stopping briefly at Klamath Falls for a BBQ dinner.
